yep fans, I am totally comfy with including major member deaths. I think if its NOT the main member, it would be nice if you suggest that WITH the lyrics. ALSO, we can't get too crazy to include a roady who died that maybe went to grade school with your second cousin. ANd we can't do things like Def Leppard and refer to the dead limb of the drummer.
SO have at it. Enjoy and keep up with the interesting side stories. go on with the chlorophyll!!!!! |

You know that what you eat you are,Savoy Truffle - The Beatles Zevon and Thompson did become VERY good friends and Thompson even collaborated on some of his lyrics. But they didn't meet until well after the release of Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner so I think Warren was just referring to the Thompson machine gun in this song - but you never know. Warren was an incredible lyricist and he's always been a huge fan of HST. And the feeling was definitely mutual. Thompson used Zevon quotes in some of his writings and even quoted Zevon's "Carmelita" in the very last letter he wrote to his wife before he committed suicide. |

Savoy Truffle - The BeatlesJust a little clarification on game guidelines. Shouldn't we name the deceased artist of the song. THIS answer IS correct as far as song and performers, but I was very careful in choosing this particular song and giving specific hints that the singer/songwriter was the intended answer, which would be GEORGE HARRISON, one of his contributions to THE WHITE ALBUM and not JOHN LENNON. If I'm being overly picky here please tell me as I would play this game in my usual fashion, not really trying to stump anyone as much as expose lesser known works by these various artists. That is why I would chose SAVORY TRUFFLE instead of the much better known WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS, also from the WHITE ALBUM. Just some musings on how to make the game more interesting and expand it's scope without turning it into TRIVAL PURSUIT. As I stated before, it's not MY THREAD and I'll defer to TRAV or popular opinion if I'm out of line. |

ONLY THE LONELY - ROY ORBISON And how many would you rate above him??? That doesn't necssarily mean the best singer, but he had a four octave range and resonance that is operatic at it's best. Imagine if he had begun his career in 1977 instead of 1957 when the studio itself was becoming an instument rather than just a place to record songs. |

NEXT LYRICS: While the song is recorded under his band's name, the singer/songwriter and close friend of David Bowie before his death is who I am looking for.
Well you're dirty and sweet, clad in black Don't look back and I love you You're dirty and sweet, oh yeah Well you're slim and you're weak You've got the teeth of a hydra upon you You're dirty sweet and you're my girl |
