Bollig signed for 2 years.

I have no idea who Bowman signs, I'm guessing at least one will be  depth dman.   Only 3 roster spots left, so i doubt he signs more than 2 players, 47 under contract right now.

With so few teams buying and a big pile of garbage after a top few names in FA, I'm not even sure I want Bowman to sign any of them, I doubt more than a few live up to their contract.    I would like Garrison for a short contract under 4 mil per, but I think he's going to ink a monster deal and laugh on the way to the bank for 5 years while he's injured on and off.      I wonder if Allen will be available, thought Rutherford would want him.       Have to wait a few more days.

I hope Rizzo has a solid start to keep me interested this summer.   Like dental surgery watching cubbies.

More AHL games for me this year too.   Hoping to make Peoria a couple times too.    Icehogs should be more entertaining, I want them to start playing better, get the goalies in some meaningful games, they've been bad for a while now.

Beach may be on his last year with the organization.    I was so excited for that guy too, half a year from being a complete bust.   Hopefully he doesn't get injured fighting again.

Grrrrrrrrr I forgot about the Rivermen, that could be a good road trip too. I will only go when the Ice Hogs are playing. Also I might check out a couple USHL games this year. As the years go they are getting more players in the first round and I think came close to the OHL in players taken. I have to trip up to Waterloo to check out the black hawks.

I can see the Garrison senerio playing that way. There was talk that SB wanted to get Allen, now is hes chance. However I think he would have to trade Hammer to get Zack Smith from the Senetors which would create cap space to make the Allen move.

Montador, Frolilk, or Hjalmarsson can be moved to make space.

I would like Garrison or Allen, but I think there are so few decent dmen out there that they will be grossly overpaid.   I can't say I want them or not until I see the contract.    Bowman can go up to 77 million all summer before he has to move people, so he can make a play at anybody he wants.   No way does Schultz come to Chicago, no ice time in the near future for him.

I wish I had a clue who they were going to sign this year.    No reliable rumors, even most of the agents are quiet again.

GR, Peoria, Chicago, and Mil all close.   ECHL in Chicago (Hoffman estates) now too.

I forgot about the ECHL The Blackhawks and Red Wings share  the Toledo Whaleye (sp.......I have caught em but cant spell em). I am gonna have to take a look to see when Toledo comes to town.

As far as Bowman goes I feel he wont do much with out the approval of his pops and the others who are looking over his shoulder.

Sadly enough my glass is neither half full or half empty, someone has tipped the damn thing over and I say they just miss the playoffs. This is due to not having team depth and not enough true top 6 guys in the top 6 guys. Injuries and fatigue play a major factor in the fall of this team.........Unless a last minute trade of the Kaner can be pulled off to Boston or Buffalo. I also think at some point (just past mid season) kanes off ice activities will play havoc in the locker room.

Sorry about the poor out look but I am a realist

I love it.

Ricketts already commissioned the artists to make a statue and painting of the guy.

lol, I spend time in the ditch too.     I think injuries are going to be an issue with Sharp (knees, joints), Toews (big and physical, they go down), Seabrook (next hit could mean jello diet for a year, he's had like 6 concussions at least), and Hossa (not a spring chicken) the rest of their contracts.    Kane and Keith are the only ones I'm not too worried about (except Kane's liver).

I think they're deep enough to make the postseason, not because they're great, but because they have better depth than most teams and fewer big issues.
As far as Bowman goes I feel he wont do much with out the approval of his pops and the others who are looking over his shoulder.
I don't think there's that much for them to do, the prospects aren't worth enough yet and the Hawks don't have what many of the selling teams need right now.     The FA market is going to blow.   Wideman getting a little less than Seabrook....no thanks, and I hope they avoid Garrison and Carle now.
It sure is nice for Cubs fans to get something to be excited about.  Nice first game Rizzo.  Montador is healthy and Kane sober (checking my pulse) Wink
Lol, I posted elsewhere that Kaner was really on a secret mission recruiting Schultz in Madison, the drunk thing was just a good cover.

If you think Wideman compared to Seabrook is bad, what do you say when I remind you the gap is even smaller when you compare Wideman and Duncan Keith?  LMAO

You're right, the FA market is going to blow.  But it's sure not gonna blow for the players becoming free agents, this is an unbelievable time of their lives and the best time I can remember in a while to become an UFA.

I wanted Suter on Detroit, but now I think my 7.5 or 8 million dollar cap hit is a pipe dream to say the least.

Heck I want Gaustad and Moen but it wouldn't surprise me if those guys command a combined 8 or 9 million dollars.

This is going to be one heck of a crazy Sunday coming up.

I'm happy the Wings signed that Brunner kid that led the Swiss league though.  Actually not official yet but 900 grand on a 2 way deal is a great value signing for a 26 year old that spent 3 years overseas.  Hopefully Nyquist raises his game a notch and earns the ice time too.

Holland says he's ready to make a splash and spend some money.  Very curious to see what he has in mind.

The thing I liked about Tallon was that he was a GM, He made the player decisions. SB is on strings and only moves when told to. Did you see him at the draft? he had that Deer in the headlights look after the first pick. Which was followed by a HIGE reach, the kid they drafted at 48 was ranked in many ranking lists in the mid hundreds. I just dont see him as a true GM, I will sit back and wait though. He did get a 5th for John Scott.................LOL

I don't put any weight behind their public speaking or their demeanor.   I do think Stan is a process geek though.  I think everything is weighted for value and if they don't come out ahead by their analysis for both short and long term, they aren't going to make the deal.   That means they won't make many big deals.   After watching Holmgren, Lombardi (ended up working out but almost disaster), Wilson, Fletcher, Burke, Poile, Gillis, Tallon, etc. make big hockey moves, I guess I'm in the minority who is completely content to sit back and wait.   I'm not sure what "true gm" means, but if you mean bold, I can see an argument for that.     Tallon had me all sorts of excited in 05 before the lockout ended and all he did was disappoint until Scotty Bowman got there so I'm happy with a completely different type of gm.   I'll never want Tallon back (he already had to dump 2 of his "character signings", I hate those), but I may be with you wanting him out of the way depending on this year.

I love that he buried Huet, timed Olesz being waived the right way, got something for Connelly (even though it didn't help), and filled out all the holes with the right skills in the prospect pool.    Almost everytrade except the Campbell dump, he ended up putting the other team backwards in one way or another.     WPG hasn't done anything, Burke went backwards, Fletcher went backwards, and nobody has fleeced him yet.     I'm okay with that track record compared to more than half the league.     This is his first year he actually make a big FA move without throwing the roster in the blender so I'm holding my judgement until after this year, but I like him to this point given the circumstances.

After the way Tallon drafted on his own (freakin' Pulford bad), I have no problem with SB's drafts since he already landed one of the few players that actually contributed to their team from last year's draft, and he wasn't afraid to bring him up.    If they bust, I'll be mad, but we have to wait 4 years or so to find out.    So far, his picks are pretty much doing what they are supposed to.   Rensfeldt was redundant and Hoefflin was too so I wasn't disappointed that they skipped out on signing those two.

I can't blame you for knocking the Fournier pick, but I'm torn about where to rate him.   I think he's a longshot, but he was on a garbage team and not a very good Huskies team.    They doubled their wins from the year before, and might have done better if Fournier had been there all year.      I don't follow the juniors very tightly, usually only a few clubs and players on paper.
He did get a 5th for John Scott.................LOL
LOL, Travis Brown.   I'll be watching him as closely as any low prospect.    I wonder if Bowman stuttered or just yelled "yes" as soon as heard the offer.

Offering a different perspective on SB, which gms came out significantly ahead after making a deal with him?

I think SB move up a notch on the food chain in a few years and a more player friendly gm takes the gm spot as soon as one stays with the Hawks for a few years without getting hired elsewhere.

Yeah when I say "true GM" I am speaking in terms of his learning on the job. If you look at his trades they are heavily sided with GMs who have been Assistant GMs under him. Aside from the John Scott deal haha

I just feel a learn on the job GM is a waste with the core we have in place. With a decent move this Blackhawks team is a cup contender. However with the Tweaks he has done over the last two years its a first round out team. I am hoping he makes some worth while moves on Sunday and the days after.

As for who got the better deal............maybe Winnepeg. Wouldnt you love to have Big Buff and Andrew Ladd back?

Ladd was the only guy I really missed.   Buff....keep him.   When he comes in for a weigh in at 275 this year, Jet fans won't be so easy on him.   He was 269 at his arrest last year.    No wonder he vanished in the later part of 2011 and a good chunk of 2012.   He was the most overrated Hawk in my lifetime since the Daizy.   For 5.2 million, I want no part of him.

The thing with WPG though, they haven't gotten any better.   While Bowman may not have won, WPG/ATL only has to show disappointment for 2 losing years and what will likely be a long bad contract on Buff.    Did I mention I miss Ladd?

Bob for you I will try to be patient with SB....Grrrrrrrrrrrr
lol, don't do it for me.    I like him, but I may be all screwed up.   I liked Tallon for awhile too and I was wrong.    Jury is out on SB.

I am speaking in terms of his learning on the job.
That's something I agree with.   SB isn't in the good ol' boys club like most gms, and I wonder if that has hurt the Hawks or helped the Hawks.    I've always been suspicious that Tallon's buddies don't like SB too (because of Dale getting canned), and I wonder if that hurts the Hawks.    I'm not wearing my foil helmet but I wouldn't be surprised based on how some of these guys operate, the irony is how Tallon got the job in a scumball move himself years back.   Whatever, I digress.

Yandle, Ryan, Nash, Luongo, Suter, Weber, Parise, Bouwmeester, Doan, etc., all having their names float around.    I wonder how crazy the next couple weeks get, I think some RFAs will keep things interesting this summer too.

Rizzo 3 for 8...build the statue.    Heartbreaking loss for the Cubbies, that 8th inning run was a killer, I thought the Cubs could have handled the 15 run deficit, but that last one iced it.

Hey, only took erin andrews blown out va jay jay to get this thread to blow up,lol.

Watched Doan interview on tsn and the desert dogs still don't have ownership and city/goldwater group trouble hashed out so he sounded to me like he is very likely to be wearing a different teams sweater next season. Doan has played in this league a long team and I respect the intensity he brings in the playoffs so I hope he lands on a legit contender though Phoenix did go far this season shockingly.

Wings assistant coach Blashill takes AHL Griffins head coaching job. Sucks Gerard Gallant already hired by Habs. Team needs a coach that will help the special teams play but I fear it won't matter because Babcock's coaching over his assistants and I saw them regress with a whole new coaching staff last season compared to RIP Brad McCrimmons.

Good signing by Holland giving Swiss kid a chance. He likes the Euros a little to much and small speedy forwards WAY to much and still shying away from desperate need to sign more gritty big players. Swiss kid will claim neutrality when challenged to a fight in a NHL game Yell

Some good veteran players UFA: Ray Whitney and Ryan Smyth. Old players but leaders that can still score well.

Konopka and Parros and Prust. Wouldn't mind any one of them on my team. Prust the best option because he can at least contribute offensively a bit but Konopka can win faceoffs and Parros has the stache and we need a ladies man here since former Tigers Brandon Inge is gone the downriver girls don't know what to do with themselves, lol.

The Yankees really should trade to get Fonzy back. Money is no object for Bank of America team.

obamacare passed yippee! Insurance companies still pulling strings of politicians not impressed. Time for government now to go spend another trillion on policing the world instead of improving quality of life of it's own citizens. Keep up good work dems and repubs.

You folks enjoying drought in Chicagoland because we are here too, argh. 100 degrees felt great Thursday. Expecting 20 more 90 degree plus days this summer and i'm staying out of sun so I don't end up looking like deep fried turkey or Kramer in that Seinfeld episode where he sunbathed soaked in butter, haha.

espn Chicago thinks Holmstrom or Hudler possible hawks, wow. Maybe happy hudler but don't see Holmstrom playing but choosing retirement instead because unlike Lidstrom he has family with kids that have grown roots here and is no hurry to go back to Sweden.

I think local beat writer at ESPN for Hawks just learned about the Blackhawks 3 years ago, he and most of them (chicago sports media) around the area are full of bad or unrealistic ideas.   After Brunette experiment, I would be very surprised if they went after another player slower than O'Donnell or a player like Hudler, Hawks already have enough undersized wingers.

Expecting 20 more 90 degree plus days this summer and i'm staying out of sun so I don't end up looking like deep fried turkey or Kramer in that Seinfeld episode where he sunbathed soaked in butter, haha.
Be careful, Newman types always hungry, never much of a Seinfeld fan, just never got around to it.   I remember that episode for some reason.

I'll take the heat over the cold, prefer it's overcast, I hate squinting and I'm not into accessorizing much (shades) unless I'm fishing.
I'm happy the Wings signed that Brunner kid that led the Swiss league though.
I'm very curious about the Swiss kid, cheap with strong potential upside, curious about the Cervenka that Feaster signed too.    I'm skeptical of both after seeing the hype with Gilroy, Brunnstrom, Hanson, Hlinka, Wellman, and the rest of the mid 20s guys signed late with high expectations.    If he can skate and play defense, the Swiss kid will work out fine for 900k, bigger boom/bust chance with big pay to Cervenka.

Brunner played for Zug in Swiss-A I see.   I have a soft spot for him now.    Zug island going to be my new home.    Hope he's bigger than 5-10 and 175 though.

HAHA not to mention Erins ball rest...............Chin I hear she may take some time off and will return as a pin cousion or a job with Fox Sports.

If the drought keeps up I plan on installing that indoor/outdoor carpet. My grass is ripe for Lightning strike.  It has been hotter than a junkies spoon here.

I was hearing that Toews and Doan are tight cause of the Worlds a few years back. Word is Johnny T may be trying to lure Shane to the Indian Head. We will see, I know he loves Phoenix......................We have better Pizza.

Also there has been some Marty talk in Chi town, Could he leave NJ and take over between the pipes for Corey Crawford? If this happens CC could head to NJ to take over for Marty................tick tock

Where will Rick Nash land? I think Howson will tottaly mess that up by asking too much. However he has kinda placed himself over a barrel with the rest of the leagues GMs. He has to hope and pray for a bidding war for Nash.

I know many are upset over the passing of "Obamacare". I think tis a good thing I am one who cant affoard an X-wife and Insurance at the same time. The Key word is affoardable, will it be? The good thing is INS Co. cant turn preexsisting conditions. that right there helps out millions of families who are in Financial ruin because of say a special needs child. The Hardcore teabagers......or is it Tea Party? either way you slice it they are republicans. Any way they are calling the law a tax. This is funny to me because they have voted down the fair tax act. In the media they send the message of tax increase as a scare tactic, but if Joe Moron American reads the fine print he would see that the tax is for people earning 1,000,000 or more per year. I know that is mot my tax bracket. Oye Politics?!?!?!?!?! how did that sneak in here?

Just a few more hours and we could have some movement in the FA market. I think the Nash trade has to be the first move to happen. Other wise the league could be in a holding pattern to see which GM blinks first. JMO

Home cooking and Suter's wife being from Minny  the decider I read today. Curious to see how they play in season and playoff being paid huge bucks to play at home. Wild have a bunch of good young prospects coming up and have already shown some good things to come a bit last season.

Kenny Holland called himself a "realist" so I expect him to be going to church with Tom Cruise the rest of the summer and watching a lot of reality tv.
Red Wings need a change at GM or bench boss soon imo. Nill could be a GM in the NHL and perhaps Babcocks motivating skills wearing thin on players here judging by terribly inconsistant efforts i witnessed last few seasons in season and playoffs.

The Doan rumors going to your hawks sound strong but I doubt you get Ryan Miller for Kane alone. Bummed out Dallas traded my boy Ott to them.

St Louis could be the team to beat in the division again, boo.

Came across  another reality show before BB starts. Redneck Island, lol. Hosted by Stone Cold Steve Austin on cmt network I believe. Show is just like survivor except players awarded beer and beef jerky spam etc, lol. When they vote to vote off a player Austin throws them a beer can for them to write a name on it then they put it in a cooler. One redneck couldn't figure out how to open up the cooler, lol and another drank the whole beer before writing name on it and returning back to his team, lol. Hilarious show.

BB house revealed inside and it has electronica design to it so I'm guessing there is going to be more than 1 peter puffer on this seasons show.

Didn't think both these clowns would sign with Wild. What a couple of jerks. maybe they should marry each other to complete this collusion.
